Peter Albert Tiffany

Peter Albert Tiffany, age 87, of Fairfield Glade, Tennessee, passed into his loving Savior's arms on October 27, 2023, in East Lansing, Michigan.

Pete was born on July 4, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois. He married Linda Lou Glatthaar on December 22, 1957 in Geneseo, Illinois. They spent 64 wonderful years together until she passed away last year.

Pete graduated from Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois and became a Research Chemist at Dow Chemical in Midland, Michigan for the next 31 years. Upon retirement, Pete and Linda loaded up and moved to Fairfield Glade, Tennessee where they spent the next 32 years together.

He enjoyed riding his Harley motorcycle, fishing, playing the Euphonium (Baritone) both with The Cumberland County Community Band and the Plateau Old-Time German polka band, snow skiing with his buddies, and being a ham radio operator. He volunteered in numerous ways over the years, from being a Big Brother, tutoring kids with the Smile Program at a local school, working with the Salvation Army as a ham radio operator during the Hurricane Katrina recovery, and was a volunteer firefighter with the Fairfield Glade Fire Department. He was an active member of the Methodist church throughout his life.

Pete had a quick wit and was a bit of a practical joker...he really liked April Fool's Day. And he always liked that America celebrated his birthday with him (and that he never had to work on his birthday)! He was kindhearted and loving, always handing out McDonald gift cards to the needy.

Pete is survived by his brother, David Tiffany of Jacksonville, Illinois, and sister, Phyllis Tiffany of Richford, Vermont; his three children: Martin Tiffany (Susan) of Thornton, Colorado, Laura Tiffany Moore (David) of East Lansing, Michigan, and James Tiffany of Midland, Michigan; his grandchildren: Ashley Tiffany, Collin Tiffany, Cody Moore (Anna), Daniel Moore (Amanda) and Michael Tiffany; and by great-grandchildren: Devin, Phillip, Riley, Quinn, Roslyn and Jude.

In addition to his parents, Albert and Winifred Tiffany, he is preceded in death by his wife, Linda, and sister-in-law, Wanda Tiffany.

A private family gathering will be held later in celebration of Pete's life.
