Terry Finley

Terry Wayne Finley, 83, of Cleveland, passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, IA. Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. Pastor Ben LaGrange will officiate. Inurnment will follow at North Cemetery, Geneseo. Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor’s choice or to Colona United Methodist Church, 1709 Cleveland Road, Colona, IL, 61241.

Terry was born April 9, 1940, the son of C. Eugene and Helen (Parson) Finley, in Kewanee, IL. He graduated from Geneseo High School, class of 1959. He attended Southern Illinois University where he obtained his bachelors in 1969, masters in 1975, and law degree in December of 1975. He proudly served in the United States Navy. Terry was employed as an attorney and as a trust officer at First Midwest Bank, Moline, IL. He enjoyed blueberry farming for several years, following his retirement from the bank, and spending time with his family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Janet Finley of Cleveland, IL; son, Wayne (Joanna Kluever) Finley of Rockford, IL; daughter, Janene (Ryan Larrison) Finley of Coal Valley, IL; grandson, Arthur Larrison; siblings, Helen Cope of East Moline, IL, and Robert (Lois) Finley of Geneseo, IL.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents, C. Eugene and Helen Finley; and brother, Paul Finley.
