Janet Marie Kirk

Janet Marie Kirk, 91, of Columbia, MD, died Tuesday, March 5, 2024.

The former Janet Marie Glawe was born February 1, 1933, in Geneseo, the daughter of Carl and Laura (Tomlinson) Glawe. Janet attended Geneseo High School and went on to attend The University of Illinois. Janet married Richard Kirk in 1954, and moved to Germany, where Richard served in the US Army. They returned home and settled in Westchester, NY to raise their daughters, Katherine and Deborah.

After Richard's death, Janet moved south to Columbia, MD, closer to her daughter, Deborah. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing cards, shopping, and spending time with family.

Janet is survived by her six grandchildren: Lauren (Matthew) Emmons, Bryan (Michelle) Wikse, Kate (James) Etchells, Tyler Wikse, James Meyers, and Jeffrey Meyers; brother James (Nancy) Glawe; sister-in-law Pam Glawe; son-in-law Carl Wikse; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Carl and Laura, husband Richard, daughters Deborah Wikse and Katherine Meyers, son-in-law John Meyers and brother Carl Glawe.

Janet will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo.
